Academies Donate Christmas Gifts to Southend Charity
During the last few weeks, Sixth Form students, along with staff at both the Lower and Upper Academy, have been collecting books and board games for the Centre Place FOOD Club in Southend.
Students Kai.L, Chizzy.N and Asia.J worked with A.Taylor, Leader of Health and Social Care and Childcare; to plan and organise a toy donation appeal, to support families in the local community this Christmas. The students got involved with the festivities, wrapping the presents to donate to the charity.
“Helping with the toy appeal can spread joy and happiness to children who are less fortunate than ourselves.” Chizzy.N – Year 13
“I am aware that there are some children that are not as fortunate as others, and I want to give them at least a hint of enjoyment for this Christmas holiday.” Asia.J – Year 13
“It was wonderful to be able to share some joy with other families this Christmas through this fantastic charity and recognise and remember others at this key time of year. We really enjoyed picking out books which we love as a family, and we hope those who get them will too. Thank you to the charity and to the team in school for all their hard work and efforts to support them. It will mean a lot to others this Christmas.” N.Fischer - Teacher of English and Key Stage Leader.
