Residential Adventure in Wales

Upper Academy students recently enjoyed an action-packed visit to Abernant Lake Activity Centre in Wales.

During the four-day residential stay, students participated in a range of outdoor activities and pursuits; whilst learning new skills and building friendships during teambuilding exercises.

Each day started at 7.30am, with students taking part in at least 5 activities per day including; abseiling, archery, canoeing, fencing, paddleboarding, raft building and rock climbing.

Evenings were spent enjoying music, dancing and walks through the grounds of the manor where students raced sticks down the streams and took photos of the grounds and surrounding areas.

The staff at the manor commented on how polite and well-mannered our students were during their stay.

“This was a very positive experience. I faced my fear of heights by abseiling & rock climbing.” Imogen.F - Year 11

"I really enjoyed the activities on the water & spending time with friends. It was a 10/10 experience! Reece.K - Year 11

Being able to spend 4 days taking part in these activities with both old & new friends is something I will not forget. My favourite activities were abseiling, rifle shooting and playing aeroball with Mr Cooper, not to mention the dance parties every night.” Shaunak.G - Year 11

“The trip was a really good experience; the people were nice and I made new friends. I really enjoyed rock climbing and abseiling.” Michael.A - Year 10

“I learned how to overcome challenges and fears throughout the visit. I enjoyed it due to the vast amount of activities, such as paddle boarding and kayaking.” Henrique.F.S - Year 11

“Fencing, rifle shooting and archery were all refreshing experiences and I would recommend them as hobbies. It was a fun and challenging experience.” Nicole.I - Year 11
