Choose Respect

During national Anti-Bullying Week, our Respect Ambassadors travelled to Alexandra Palace to take part in The Diana Award ‘Choose Respect’ event.

Our Lower and Upper Ambassadors joined over 400 primary and secondary school students from across the UK to participate in creative & interactive workshops. During the day, representatives from Facebook, Instagram & Twitter led a panel discussion, answering questions from students on topics such as cyberbullying and staying safe online.

Famous faces including model Penny Lancaster, TV presenter Carrie Grant & street dance duo Twist & Pulse spent time collaborating with students throughout the inspirational day. Cast from new west-end musical ‘Everyone’s Talking About Jamie’, performed with students.

“I really enjoyed the Street art workshop. Our group were tasked with creating and designing a poster which included a key message. Our message to fellow students is ‘Shine and be unique, everyone is different in their own way'.”
Charlie Dennis - Year 10.

“The Choose Respect event was a great experience with lots of fun workshops. I liked meeting new people and being involved in activities that helped my confidence and listening skills.” Jadafaye Joseph - Year 8.

“The workshops I attended were fun and successful in giving us ideas for how to improve our school. The theme of the day was ‘celebrating difference’ and it is a message that myself and fellow Respect Ambassadors can spread throughout the Academies.” Jennifer Brooker - Year 11.

“It was Inspiring to see so many students from different schools working together. During the drama activity we acted out how to deal with different types of bullying.” Olivia Mano - Year 8.
