Walton-on-the-Naze Geography Field Trip

Year 11 Geographers recently enjoyed a field trip to Walton-on-the-Naze as part of their GCSE studies.

Students conducted fieldwork on the beach to examine coastal erosion, followed by a visit to the town to assess economic activity. Research and evidence gained during the visit will be used towards the student’s final examination grade.

“It was a rather fun day out. There is only a certain amount of geography you can learn from the classroom. Being outdoors and doing real fieldwork has given me an insight into what a career using skills in geography would entail.” Shaunak.G

“I found the geography trip very fun and overall I had a nice day. We measured the beach gradient and size of rocks, and the results were really interesting. In the afternoon we went into the town and surveyed residents about the local area. I gained a lot of fieldwork skills and knowledge which will help me with my GCSE’s.” Myleene.D
