Year 10 excel at work experience
Year 10 students have recently taken part in work experience placements, during a two week period to support their personal aspirations for their future.
Our students were given the exclusive opportunity to work with professionals in various industries including Audi, Barnardos, Barleylands Equestrian Centre, Baxter Harries Solicitors, The British Museum, Essex County Council, Orsett Hospital, Larchwood Care Home, Virgin Media and many local Primary & Nursery Schools.
Year 10 student Christopher Hawkins, who spent two weeks with Baxter Harries Solicitors in Basildon commented “I would like to get into a career involving Civil Law. Gaining experience in a similar environment where I want to work has been a great opportunity for me.”
Pets at Home Assistant, Manager Jake Overton, was really pleased with Summa Goodrum’s performance; “Summa has been a credit to your school. She has always been punctual & happy to get involved & graft with an ever present smile. She has been a pleasure to work with & would happily have her as a colleague”.
Zena Graver, Engagement Coordinator at The Salvation Army in Hadleigh had high praise for student Kullen Leader “We have been very impressed with Kullen’s positive attitude, politeness & ability to take on board instructions.
Many students have been offered Saturday jobs since completing their work experience, giving the possibility of apprenticeships. Headteacher, Gary Smith, commented: “We have received so much positive feedback from employers regarding our students. We are extremely grateful to all of the local employers that offered placements. I would like to thank them all for their support.
